Vaccines, Did you know....

Did you know that there are several vaccines that are routinely given to our children during their first year that contain cells from aborted babies?

"There are five vaccines currently available in the United States that are produced using human cell cultures: one brand of injected polio, rubella, hepatitis A, chickenpox and shingles. The three human cell culture lines are called WI-38, MRC-5 and RA 27/3.

The cell cultures on which they are grown are obtained from “immortal” cell lines, that is, cell lines that are self- propagating. The cells used to start these vaccines, many years ago, were obtained from the bodies of aborted human fetuses. Therefore, use of these vaccines raises ethical and moral questions..."

Please read the rest of Dr. George Delgado's article HERE at the Culture of Life & Family services website.

Also, if you go HERE you can find a detailed chart listing all the tainted vaccines which can be printed out easily as a take along to your child's next doctor's visit.

A Litany of Life to St. Joesph

Good Saint Joseph,(response)...pray for us
Husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary,
Protector of the Mother of God,
Faithful spouse,
Good worker,
Good and gentle man,
Man of faith and hope,
Man of kindness and charity,
Man of love,
father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Guardian of the Christ child,
Teacher of virtue,
Model of patience,
Model of kindness,
Loving Father,
Kind father,
Example of holiness,

For all unmarried fathers, (response)...pray for them
For all who are afraid,
For all tempted to despair,
For all tempted by evil,
For refugees and orphans,
For those condemned to die,
For those mortally ill,
At the hour of their death,
For doctors and nurses,
For those who wait for death,
For the old and the alone,
For truth and justice,
For legislators and judges,
For our President and Vice-President

For all who work for life, Pray for them.
Good Saint Joseph,
your faithful love protected and nourished
the Mother of God and Jesus Christ, her son.
Your fatherly care led to maturity
he through whom all creation began.
Through your intercession,
may God guide and protect all human life
from conception to natural death,
and lead this nation
in the ways of truth and of love.
Pray for us, good Saint Joseph,
that joined with Christ Jesus,
we might give praise to God forever. Amen.

Novenas to Begin!

I am a bit late on posting these:)

St. Catherine of Sienna's feast Day is April 30th. Her novena was to begin this past Tuesday.

Novena Prayer to Saint Catherine of Sienna
Heavenly Father, your glory is in your saints. We praise your glory in the life of the admirable St. Catherine of Sienna, virgin and doctor of the Church. Her whole life was a noble sacrifice inspired by an ardent love of Jesus, your unblemished Lamb. In troubled times she strenuously upheld the rights of His beloved spouse, The Church. Father, honour her merits and hear her prayers for each of us, and for our whole parish family dedicated to her.

Help us to pass unscathed through the corruption of this world, and to remain unshakably faithful to the church in word, deed, and example. Help us always to see in the Vicar of Christ an anchor in the storms of life, and a beacon of light to the harbour of your Love, in this dark night of your times and men's souls. Grant also to each of us our special petition . . . (pause to pray for your own intentions). We ask this through Jesus, your Son, in the bond of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

St. Catherine of Sienna, Pray for us.

The Memorial of St. Joesph the Worker is held on May 1st, so the novena was to begin yesterday.

Novena to Saint Joseph

O Saint Joseph, whose protection is so great, so strong, so prompt before the throne of God, I place in you all my interests and desires.

O Saint Joseph, assist me by your powerful intercession and obtain for me from your Divine Son all spiritual blessings through Jesus Christ, Our Lord; so that having engaged here below your heavenly power, I may offer my thanksgiving and homage to the most loving of Fathers.

O Saint Joseph, I never weary contemplating you and Jesus asleep in your arms; I dare not approach whil He reposes near your heart. Press Him in my name and kiss His fine head for me, and ask Him to return the Kiss when I draw my dying breath, Amen.

O Saint Joseph, hear my prayers and obtain my petitions. O Saint Joseph, pray for me. (mention your intention)

Family Study-Purgatory and the Poor Souls

For this past month of March, our family topic of Study was on Purgatory and the Poor Souls. November is the traditional month of devotion to the poor souls, but I decided that with such an important topic as it is, it would be wise to study an aspect of it twice per year.I decided to just cover the basics this month and then in November study a bit more in depth about purgatory. (Like scriptural references, etc.)

Here is the plan I developed for study, the resources I used, and what we have studied. (I also just wanted to note that all of the reading and discussing for this family study was done in the evenings after school time, usually for just about 20 minutes or so after dinner.)

*I purchased SPIRITUAL FLOWERS for THE HOLY SOULS,A Devotional Chart for Children, from Little Flowers Family Apostolates.. This chart was really instrumental in teaching all the little deeds that can be done to help the suffering of the poor souls. It's such a great reminder for me, when I see this laminated chart hanging on the refrigerator, to not only speak to my family about the poor souls, but also for my own personal devotions to help them. The chart is very attractive and it lists the days of the week and then offers "reliefs for the poor souls" in the form of your daily offering, holy rosary, Holy water etc. I plan on keeping this chart out for the entire year to remind us all that we should remember the poor souls in purgatory on a daily basis. (Also, I would highly recommended visiting the Little Flowers Family Apostolates.e if you are not familiar with it. They offer a great collection of authentically Catholic materials, most of which are old, out of date, and hard to find.)

*Read through the Catechism on the Catholic Church on the section of Purgatory.

*We then read through and studied a few pages each day of the following small booklets:
"Purgatory Quizzes"-Very informative. This is a booklet set up in a question and answer format, answering questions to someone who doesn't understand or believe in purgatory.
"Read me or Rue It" and How to Avoid Purgatory both by Father Paul O'Sullivan.

These three little booklets are so full of information. It is clear, and concise and easy to understand, even for children.

*Joined the Association of the Holy Souls. The conditions for this Association are:

Have your name registered in the Book of the Association.
Hear Mass once a week (Sunday suffices) for the Holy Souls.
Pray for and promote devotion it, the Holy Souls.
Contribute once a year an offering to the Mass fund, which enables the Association to have daily Masses said! throughout the year.
(Those who wish to join and do not have the Association to their parish can send their name, address and annual alms to:
Association of the Holy Souls, Dominican Nuns of the Perpetual Rosary, Pius XII Monastery, Rua do Rosario 1, 2495 Fatima, Portugal).

*Lastly, for this month we also read certain excerpts from the book "Visions of Heaven, Hell and Purgatory." I choose a few specific stories just relating to purgatory from this book, as well as the chapter on St. John Bosco and his dreams.

These little monthly family studies are shaping up to be incredible blessings for our family! I couldn't predict that something as simple as assigning a focus to the month would bring to bear so much fruit in our Faith life and family life too!

PRAYER OF ST. GERTRUDE THE GREAT

ETERNAL FATHER, I offer Thee the most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, JESUS, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home, and within my family. Amen
